Challenge Grant
In difficult economic times, Sustainable Nantucket was successful in meeting its initial Challenge Grants in 2009 and 2010.
Challenge Grant 2011
**UPDATE: WE’VE MET OUR GOAL!!! Sustainable Nantucket has successfully raised our target of $50,000 towards the 2011 Challenge Grant. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our anonymous donor for starting off our Challenge and to all of our generous donors for helping us to meet our goal. Everyone who contributed to the 2011 Challenge Grant will appear on the Giving Wall at our Farm to School garden.
Once again, THANK YOU to all of our supporters who make our work possible.
————————————————————————————————————
Sustainable Nantucket (SN) has once again been offered a Challenge Grant for 2011. An anonymous donor has made an initial pledge of $10,000 to support and encourage us to raise an additional $50,000 to achieve an overall goal of $60,000 in order to fund our programs by June 30th of this year.
Since last year, when SN sharpened our focus on local agriculture, our programs such as Farm To School have been gaining momentum and helping to transform school lunch choices; our Youth Council is building a large, organic garden on school grounds; our Agricultural Intern Initiative is growing new farmers and educators; and our Farmers & Artisans Market is expanding to include a mid-week growers’ market.
These programs have garnered the support of many volunteers, who have given, and continue to give countless hours of their time and energy, and of local businesses– who have contributed through generous in-kind donations of materials and labor. We need your financial support so that together, we can continue to build these important programs that will have lasting healthful and positive economic benefits for the entire community.
Like many other non-profits, SN is still experiencing the aftermath of the global economic crisis. We are fortunate to have this creative opportunity to help us fund our growing programs, and hope that you will become a partner in our work by participating in our 2011 Challenge Grant.
Thank you for your support.
