Challenge Grant
Sustainable Nantucket has been offered a 2010 Challenge Grant. An anonymous donor has made an initial pledge of $10,000 on the grounds that we raise an additional $40,000 to achieve an overall goal of $50,000 by the end of July 2010.
Our first Challenge Grant was offered in 2009, during the height of the recession when we were faced with a $50,000+ budget shortfall. Like many other non-profits, we were notified by a number of foundations who had been the backbone of our operational budget over the years, that they had to significantly decrease or were unable to provide support at any level. It was a difficult start to last year, but we are happy to report we met our first Challenge Grant goal in June 2009!
We are now seeking contributions from community-minded people like you, to participate in our 2010 Challenge Grant Match. As Sustainable Nantucket moves forward this year, it is clear that we still face significant financial challenges; foundation and individual support has continued to waver as a result of economic hardship. Your support towards the 2010 Challenge Grant will help us meet almost one third of our operational budget — bearing considerable impact on our program efforts.
We know that you value Nantucket’s extraordinary community, sense of place, and environment. You also recognize how fragile the island is as it bears the pressures of its seasonal popularity and fluctuating population. Your support of this Challenge Grant will be a win-win; an investment ensuring wide-scale community benefits by strengthening our economy, community and protection of our environment.
Please support Sustainable Nantucket and help us MEET the CHALLENGE by donating online TODAY. Sustainable Nantucket is committed to ensuring a healthy and sustainable island community.
Together we can continue to make a difference.
