National Farm to School Month!

October is National Farm to School Month and the Sustainable Nantucket Farm to School Program has a variety of family friendly events and programs planned to celebrate. Mark your calenders and join us in learning about and tasting the delicious produce grown here on Nantucket.small group KK picture

Family Garden Day Sunday, October 5th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Join us for this FREE event in the Farm to School Garden for a variety of family friendly fall garden activities & crafts including:

Seed Saving
Lasagna composting
Rock art and flower pressing
Hugelkultur with Dutra Designs

Garden Scavenger Hunt Sunday, October 19th from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Team up with friends and family to test your agricultural knowledge in the Farm to School Garden. This is a FREE event and fun for all ages!

Harvest Dinner Friday, October 24th from 5:30pm – 7:00pm

Celebrate the fall harvest with a NantucketGrown™ feast in the Nantucket High School Cafeteria prepared with the bounty harvested from island farms. Enjoy a spaghetti dinner served with locally grown and made tomato sauce, farm fresh salad, and locally made desserts. Accompanying the dinner there will be live music, crafts for the kids, and opportunities to meet our local farmers. Tickets are required for this event and are $5.00 per person and free for children under the age of six. Tickets can be purchased at the Sustainable Nantucket Farmers and Artisans Market, at the Sustainable Nantucket office or any Farm to School Event.
