Farm to School is Hiring for Two Positions!

If you have a passion for local food, nutrition and agriculture, and are interested in educating youth about these important topics, the Sustainable Nantucket Farm to School Program is the place for you! We have two positions available, please see the descriptions below.

 

Farm to School Program Development Assistant

Job Description: Under the direction of the Farm to School Manager, aid in the research, design, implementation of the new Farm to School Summer Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Design – Under the direction of the Farm to School Manager aid in completing the designing the structure and activities to meet the mission and goals of the SN Farm to School Program.
  • Promotion – develop material and manage other avenues for promoting the Summer Program.
  • Implementation – Implement and oversee the running of the 2-week pilot program at the end of August 2015. This includes but is not limited to registration or participants, organization of daily lessons, acquiring all needed materials, and teaching the attendees.

Compensation: June 22 – September 4:
$18/hour @ 35hrs/ week totaling 385 hoursEnd date is flexible with potential for long-term position. for maximum of 480 hours per year.

Summer Farm to School Internship

Qualified candidates must be interested in learning about agriculture, nutrition and sustaining your community and be available June 15 – October 17.

This paid internship will include:

  • 30 hours/week between the Farm to School Garden and SN Farmers and Artisans Market
  • Assisting the Farm to School Manager in Farm to School (F2S) related tasks
  • Propagation of produce and general maintenance of the F2S garden
  • Harvesting and preparing produce for sale or storage
  • Assisting with garden workshops and visiting camps
  • Selling produce at the SN Farmers and Artisans Market
