2019 Agriculture Apprenticeship – Part-time, Seasonal

Sustainable Nantucket is seeking an Agriculture Apprentice to work at our educational incubator farm, the Community Farm Institute, helping the site manager to run and maintain the farm, and to grow produce.

This apprenticeship will emphasize farm work  for a total 25-35 hours/week @ $13.00/hour.

Assists the farm’s site manager in running and working at the Community Farm Institute at 168 Hummock Pond Road. Responsible for maintaining pollinator garden, Food Forest and Bee Sanctuary. Fifteen hours per week are spent on farm maintenance, such as digging trenches, weed whacking, and fence repair. Ten to twenty additional hours are spent growing produce using organic and sustainable methods under the mentorship of a graduated grower. Time commitment is flexible. Must be able to handle farm tools, such as weed whacker, lawn mower, and hand-held tools. Must be able to bend, dig, carry, lift and work outdoors in any weather. Great learning opportunity!
