Success in the Victory Garden

Friday, October 15th, 2010

We had a tremendous response to our 2009/2010 Locally Grown Victory Garden Raffle, so much so that we decided to hold the raffle again for 2010/2011.

We checked in recently with Mary Marshall, winner of our 2009/2010 Locally Grown Victory Garden Raffle, to see what her experience had been with her first vegetable garden. We were delighted to learn that Mary enjoyed fresh veggies all season, and even had enough to share with neighbors. Here are Mary’s words:

“Thank you Sustainable Nantucket for the beautiful Victory Garden you installed. I am a first time gardener who managed to grow tomatoes, peppers, lettuces and greens, basil and cilantro- and I look forward to trying other vegetables next year.

Mary M.”

It’s great to hear of Mary’s success as a first-time gardener, and we hope the garden continues to bring her enjoyment for many years to come.

If you have been thinking about starting a garden at your Nantucket home, entering our Victory Garden Raffle is a great way to get started – you too could be the lucky winner, and you’ll be supporting Sustainable Nantucket and all of our Programs and Initiatives at the same time.
